MITSUI E&S Co., Ltd. Receives Largest-Ever Order for Mitsui-Paceco Transtainer- Forty-Eight (48) Units of Environmentally-Friendly Cargo Handling Cranes in Malaysia -
MITSUI E&S Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "MITSUI E&S"), President and Representative Director: Takeyuki Takahashi, received an order from Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn. Bhd. (hereinafter "PTP") for forty-eight (48) units of environmentally-friendly Electric Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (Mitsui-Paceco Transtainer). This marks the largest single order for Mitsui-Paceco Transtainer.
Mitsui-Paceco Transtainer to be delivered is a fully electric crane which does not emit carbon dioxide nor diesel emission gas. During cargo handling operations, electric power is supplied from the electrical bus-bar (ground power supply facilities) installed in each container lane. This Mitsui-Paceco Transtainer is also equipped with a lithium-ion battery for gantry travel from block to block when the power supply from the bus-bar is unavailable.
PTP, a container terminal operator based in Johor, Malaysia, is a joint venture between MMC Corporation Berhad, a leading Malaysian utilities and infrastructure group and APM Terminals, a global port operator with facilities in 64 key locations around the world. PTP is implementing a series of initiatives to keep the terminal's advantages in an increasingly competitive global market. This involves upgrading to state-of-the-art port facilities, expanding terminal capacity to accommodate growing cargo volumes, and electrifying cargo handling equipment driving toward decarbonization, whereby PTP aims to reduce 45% of its emissions by 2030. The new E-RTG cranes form part of PTP's equipment modernization strategy and are scheduled to be delivered from Q3 2025.
MITSUI E&S received another order for thirty-five (35) same type Mitsui-Paceco Transtainers in 2022. With a track record of delivering eleven (11) cranes in 2009, the total crane orders from PTP are ninety-four (94) units. MITSUI E&S will continue to provide high-quality products to support its customers' port operating business as a pioneer in crane manufacturing, and aims to expand its business in Southeast Asia, where demand for infrastructure is increasing.
